Rather than work things down to two solid middle infielders, he simply believes that the aggregate of a plethora of sub-par middle infielders will meet or surpass having one tandem pair.

If he can’t land the one player, it’s just all about believing that by clusterfucking a bunch of mediocre to terrible players that have one advantageous characteristic about them, you end up with one okay positional element. No.
Same goes for the OF, dude. Just because you have 5 or so OF who could legitimately take starts on a daily basis does not mean that it’s equally okay to platoon them and just say you’re playing splits or the hot hand. That is noncommittal and lazy and will not pay off in the long run.
